Dear Juno,

You are the only one who can say whether or not it was the right choice, it seemed like you were happy with it. You had things that you were going through and you were the only one who could really know how it felt or what was best for you. There are infinite different situations that could make a someone want or need to have an abortion. It’s not always about being irresponsible, condoms and birth control don’t always work. The parent of the child is the only one who can decide what’s best and nobody should shame them due to their decision.

If a girl and I were in Juno’s place i’m not sure what we would do. It would take a lot of talking and thinking before we made a decision and we would agree on what’s best for our situation. Really all I could do is stay with her and try to help with whatever we decided to do because I don’t know what my life or her life would be like in that moment. There is no way of ever really knowing what what we would do unless I became a parent myself.

It should be the parents right to chose what happens with the pregnancy but it’s really up to mom. The mother of the child knows what’s best for her child better than any politician or celebrity. The choice of whether or not to have an abortion needs to be protected. If Roe v.s. Wade was taken away it would strip the rights of every woman in the United States. Woman and couples who can afford it will go to another state to have a legal and safe abortion but there are plenty of people who can’t afford to travel. Those people will resort to shady back-alley abortions alone or with help from hired unprofessional doctors. These illegal and last-resort instance often cause permanent damage or are fatal to the mother. This practice has been almost eradicated due to Roe v.s. Wade and the planned parenthood clinics that offer abortions legally across the nation. If the republicans stop funding planned parenthood the shady back-alley abortions will start to occur all over America.
